Functional Assays

For over ten years, Paragon has been addressing the needs of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry by offering a substantial portfolio of in vitro and in vivo validated functional assays.

Experimental compounds – small molecules or proteins – may be tested using Paragon’s standard in vitro and in vivo protocols, derived from pertinent scientific literature, or directly implemented from already developed procedures supplied by the client.

Areas of expertise with functional assays and assay development include:

All studies include a final report which contains a description of the protocol, list of all reagents utilized, all raw data, and basic statistical analysis (i.e. mean, median, standard deviations, standard errors, confidence intervals, and ANOVA). All animal studies are conducted at an AAALAC-accredited facility, and all protocols are reviewed and approved by the institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC). Assays can be performed either as standard research and development projects or as GLP-compliant studies.

Additional capabilities at Paragon Bioservices for assay development projects include: flow cytometry (using the Guava HT, by Millipore), analytical ultracentrifugation, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA and HPLC.
